Mothers Pride

Eugenics and child-design and  formed the preliminary research of Paddy’s post-graduate studies. 'Mothers Pride' was based on the notion that fine-tuning the genetic make up of an unborn could lead to the parent fulfilling unrealised ambitions by living their own life through their child. Parental influence and the pre-defining of an individual’s destiny prompted the making of precocious ceramic infants, clearly mass-produced, but with the hand of the maker and hand-made quality still evident, striking poses beyond their physical and intellectual capabilities.
